ABOUT ME

Hello! I am Nabin Kumar Ijam, from Nepal. I am a Civil Engineer specializing in Structural and Hydropower Engineering. This is my personal portfolio website where you can get some information about my work and expertise.I have added some calculation sheets which can be helpful for the Civil engineers who are pursuing their career in designing.

I born in small village located in Jhapa district of Nepal. I had completed by school education from Bhanu Secondary School, Shivagunj-4 (now Shivasatakshi municipality -7). Then, I moved to Kathmandu to pursue higher education. I completed Diploma of Civil Engineering from Institute of Engineering, Thapathali Campus. After one year of preparation, I started Bachelor of Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus.

My professional career started from Khwopa Engineering College (KEC), Bhaktapur where I taught to Bachelor students for one semester. When I got an opportunity to work in Sanima Hydropwer, I left KEC and started working in Sanima Hydro. My career in hydropower emerged and grew in Sanima where I got chance to work at construction site. 22MW Mai hydropwer Project had given me the vast knowledge on construction methodologies starting from site in-charge to frequent opportunity to work as Act. Resident Engineer.

After doing work in Sanima for 7 years, I felt this is the best to pursue graduate. I applied for ADB-JSP Scholarship in Japan and fortunately I got scholarship to study in Saitama University, Japan. At the end of academic year, I was awarded as the "Best Research Award".

Luck favoured again. I got the chance the work in Japan. But my imagition about work environement in Japanese company was not found true, therefore, I couldn't continue and left and return to Nepal. In Nepal, I got best place to work in hydropower. I worked with many experienced hydropower professionals which sharpened my knowledge on hydropower. That was my turning point as a Design Engineer.

Now, I am in SMEC (Malaysia) for better opportunity and financial stability.

As I explained earlier, I have extensive experience in designing hydraulic structures, buildings, and steel structures. My expertise includes concrete design based on Indian Standard, British Standard, Euro codes, and ACI. Whereas, Steel design based on Indian and Euro Standards.
